I didn’t realize how popular tomahawk throwing was until a guy showed up wanting to buy 3 inch cottonwood planks, four foot long for a target. I sawed them out so he would have 5 planks that made a 4 foot by 4 foot target with a couple extras for replacements in the middle. It was a good way to use up some short larger diameter logs.

He said spruce didn’t work as well because the blades stick more and birch was too hard and tended to spring the tomahawk back if it didn’t strike clean. He said cottonwood worked the best of what we have locally.

Wife had some older cutlery that I hated. Decided one day while she was at the store take them outback and throw them at a big Doug Fir. I got a couple of steak knives to stick - others just made a thud against wood.

Wife gets home, finds her knife block empty - a wtf moment came over her face. I said I tossed them - didn’t lie, cuz that’s what I did, repeatedly.

I handed her a box that when she opened it held $2k dollars worth of Japanese Shun kitchen cutlery. She was pretty excited, until she asked what happened to her old knives....Husband, you’re an ass-hole she said when I told her they were trashed.

Wife was throwing in a town league then made me build her a target in the shop. Of course, I built it, she threw at it a hand dozen times. Hasn’t touched it in a year…
