Looks to be a small leopard. But that still qualifies him as a certified Badass.
There must be at least 50 pointy things on a leopard, all moving in a blurr, plus it's extremely strong for it's size. It's like manhandling your PO'd pet cat x 40.

All the more reason to call B.S.
Hard to imagine neck and face escaping severe damage , and how exactly did he kill it ?
Broke its neck ? Drowned it ? Maybe
Still sounds like B.S. it’s all muscle , lot of speed and power there .

I’ve seen someone shredded by a cat. I can only imagine what a leopard would do.

Pretty well accepted.

Akeley first traveled to Africa in 1896 when he was invited by Daniel Elliot, Curator of the Zoology Department in the new Columbian Field Museum, on an eight month expedition to Somaliland. It was on this trip that Akeley came face to face with a deadly 80-pound leopard which he strangled with his bare hands. Akeley collected hundreds of animal specimens including: hartebeest, gazelles, hyenas, kudus, oryx, and lions. The process of collecting specimens included: killing, measuring, photographing, skinning, de-boning, preserving, and packing them for shipment back to Chicago.

Didnt O'Rourke kill one that attacked him by ramming his fist down its throat?

That might be the man in the photo.
----------------

Carl Akeley was an artist, photographer, inventor, conservationist, and the pre-eminent taxidermist of his day. But after he killed a leopard by thrusting his right hand into the animal’s mouth and choking it to death with his left, he was forever to be remembered chiefly for that 1896 encounter.

I wouldn't rule it out. Wife's friend killed a Kodiak sow back 8n the 90's with a buck knife. He still walked out. He didn't come out unscathed but he said anger over ruled pain. Some Alaskans here remember that story I'm sure

There are so many of these “black swan” things that I have trouble wrapping my head around it.
How in the hell can this stuff go on in a nation of supposedly educated people, and nobody bats an eye.
We must have become a nation of cowards. That’s the only explanation i can come up with.

I killed a bobcat in a trap with a pocket knife when I was younger. I will never ever ever ever do that again. Those things are 30 pounds of pure pissed.
