That's a great looking rifle! I've always had a soft spot for FN Mausers

I've had it for about 30 years, and today was the first time I've shot it, LOL. Looks like a good time to celebrate! That's one nice Mauser. That's quite a collectable. Unfired too. What made you decide to get it out and shoot that virgin action today?

This one was next in line.

That's mislabeled. A common mistake, since that's how FN listed them in their catalog. But what FN meant when they listed the Model 1924/30 in their catalog was that they offered both the Model 1924 Short Rifle and the Model 1930 Short Rifle. The Model 1924 was in 8mm Mauser, while the Model 1930 was in 7mm Mauser. Mine's a Model 1930 Short Rifle. That ad also states this model was "delivered from the late 1920's through the 1940's." Since the Model 1930 wasn't offered till 1930, that would seem unlikely, and since Germany captured FN around 1940, it's unlikely that FN was manufacturing or delivering either rifle to anyone " through the 1940s." PS Mine came with that muzzle protector, too. I just didn't take a picture of it.

Real Hawkeye,
I had the same rifle many years ago, from my recollection I paid $150.00 for it. Never shot it before the rifle moved on to a new owner. The workmanship was impeccable.

Beautiful rifle. Iβm a big fan of FN products. Itβs a shame that no US manufacturers can equal FN or even CZ for both civilian and military contract weapons.
Any K98βs coming up for a range trip?

2.75 is more or less where I sight scoped rifles in - I aint too picky. Good to 300- after that I want range finder in the field. Hold for a man's center chest and he's in a world of hurt.....or not. Cuba lost btw.

Do you have any bayonets that may have come with any of those rifles? I had a semi-auto 6.5 swede that had a quite nice bayonet, I gave the rifle to my Son who still has it.
