Back in 1992, I bought a Ruger M77 in a skeletonized stock. 7mm Mag. At the same time my brother bought a a Winchester Classic Stainless in .308 in a walnut stock.
After shooting his and hunting that year, I was determined to get a walnut stock so I bought a M77 stock from Ruger and traded out the stock. I trashed the skeletonized one….nobody wants that piece of junk. I literally tossed it in the trash.
IMO, I had the first SS in M77 in Walnut from Ruger, 2 years later they offered it in that version. Am I wrong?

Years ago I had a friend who worked for Smith and Wesson for a time. She told me she (and everyone else who worked there) had been asked for ideas for new products. I gave her a list of 5. One was a small single stack 9mm pistol, another was an AR in 22lr.
A few years later the M&P Shield and M&P 15/22 we're introduced.
I realize that my ideas were never seen by a decision maker, but I thought I had a finger on the pulse of the market.
I'm not sure what my other 3 ideas were, except maybe one was a 22 bolt action that would take 10/22 barrels. Maybe a 5 shot 44 magnum, L frame sized.

I didn’t start a trend but I sold a boat load of those Ruger paddles back in the day. I believe they were less than 300.00.

On a wish list thread here I posted that Glock should, Build a G19 sized gun with a slimmer, dedicated 9mm, slide.
Ditch the stupid thick plastic wrapped mag in favor of a steel one,
then make the gun grip slimmer to fit the mag.
Glock built the gun. (As a single stack with the plastic mag) Shield arms saw the obvious, and built the mag.
I didn't start that, obviously. It was simply obvious.

The 43X rocks and those mags are very intriguing. That said, I had 3 malf’s in the first 150 rounds with two of the Shield Arms mags. I do have a steel mag release on the way, which may bring me back to Glock “perfection”. If it does, 15+1 in that slender little gun is gonna rock.

I’ve been told I started a trend on my tile forum (I’m a GC /tile guy) I Have Done a lot of linear drains, curbless showers, benches and large niches before they became the norm.
All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

I "think" I was the one who started the use of the term "6.5 manbun" for the 6.5 Creedmoor. I recall years ago using that term on a couple of forums and the next thing I know everybody is using it. At the time I thought I was being quite clever and don't recall anybody else ever having used it. I am open to the fact that I may have read someone else's use of it and then subconsciously thinking I did when I first wrote. I've often wondered.

I originated "Bidet" for Biden as far as I know, and have seen it used since by others. Not enough for a trend tho.
But that's low hanging fruitcake, so I wouldn't be surprised if a number of others also "originated" it.
"Brandon", now - THAT'S a trend! That reporter should be proud.
I did chop a RU77 barrel back to 17", shortened and slimmed the stock fore and aft to make a "carbine", several years ahead of Ruger's. Still using it. Does that count?
I originated a name for a lake "Puppy Dog Lake", here on the Kenai NWR on a field survey. Ranger penciled it on on the office map and a few years later it was on the new USGS map I purchased.

Jeff O; Top of the morning to you sir, it's been a long time since we've had an exchange hasn't it? I hope you've all been well or mostly so in the interim. You are correct about the blue tape thing or at least as far as this old guy can remember it. That buck was '09 so it's that far back at least and likely longer, but how much I'm not sure. All the best to you all. Dwayne

I bought a sixer of Shiner Bock when I moved down to the southern border country, being from WI and would wait every spring for Bock beer to hit the taps Shiner Bock is about the very worst bock beer I've ever drank, I think I used the last bottles in stew and they even make stew taste odd. Roasted raccoons are pretty good eating though.

Why pack all that messy meat out of the bush when we can just go to the grocery store where meat is made? Hell,if they sold antlers I would save so much money I could afford to go Dolphin fishing. Maybe even a baby seal safari.

Not really a trend but I was the first in my family/camp/hunting circle to get a Montana.
Odd how opinions suddenly changed in that group about what "handy" was or how "light" was defined.

Again, not trends, but back in the 80s I modified a M600 and turned it into a faux Brown Mountain Rifle with a Brown precision stock, a M700 bolt handle, and turned the 308 barrel down to a pencil contour. A few months later Remington introduced the M7 that was the same thing I'd built minus the Brown stock. I also cut the barrel on my 1895 Marlin to 18.5". A few months later Marln introduced the guide gun version of the 1895. I didn't set trends but was just a few months early on these two.
