Slim pickins at the LGS yesterday, but they did have two Bergara BMRs, one carbon, one steel. Very light, but didn’t really strike a cord with me. What did, surprisingly, was a SS 10/22 RSI, a pretty slick little trick. Got out quickly before I had an “accident”. Already have stuff standing in corners as it is.

I have one of the original SS laminated 10/22 RSI's made for Walmart in the early 90's? I bought it new there. I have since tweaked it.

I had one of those 10/22 RSI full stock rifles years ago. I squirrel hunted with it some, but it was never really accurate enough to suit me and instead of tinker with it, I sold it to a guy that wanted it bad enough for me to make a decent profit. Of course now I would like to have it back to fiddle with and see if I could make it shoot well enough for headshots on squirrels at 50-ish yards.

I bought one of those Walmart exclusive run Ruger gray laminated RSI 10/22s on closeout for $125 back in the day. Walmart also had the same rifle in a standard length gray laminated stock on closeout then, too. Mounted a silver finish Leupold 3X9 on it. Attractive rifle but noticeably heavier than regular hardwood stocked 10/22s. Accuracy of mine was pretty much run-of-the-mill ordinary. Wound up trading it off for a stainless Ruger P90.

There is one of the new 10/22 RSIs at a nearby LGS - with wood stock. I handled it but didn’t love it. It almost felt too light and felt “chubby” in my hands. I love Mannlichers, but I don’t think that version of the Ruger is for me.

I wonder if the grey laminate version would feel / handle differently.

Ruger 10/22's tend to be "clubby". My wife has a synthetic stocked one that has a thinner profile. They should make that in wood.

The original 10-22 RSI stock was pretty lean. I picked this one up a few years ago.

I bought one of the Walmart specials for my son when they had them reduced to sell. Thought about it overnight and went back the next day and bought one for me “just because”. 😊

I understand "just 'cause" and you understand "just 'cause", but my Wife absolutely doesn't understand "just 'cause" when it comes to stuff that I like.

I hunted all over for one of these KRBIBBZs in 1994. I bought the first one for full price and the next three with 240-xxxx serial numbers for around $160 each at the Wal-Mart in LaVista, NE, "just 'cause". I sent one of them to CPC for a full tune up. If Randy knows that your barreled action is going into a mannlicher-style stock he will do the absolute minimum barrel set back necessary to cut a match chamber and still have the muzzle protrude beyond the nose cap on the stock. It is more accurate than it was before Randy worked it over and is still sucking in people at the range who don't think that a 10/22 with a mannlihcer-style stock will shoot good groups.

If you're not going into debt to buy them, there is no such thing as too many quality firearms. OTOH, 1 Raven is too many even if it was free.

Maybe shoulda, certainly coulda bought both, but I’m already giving short shrift to several other nice ones that deserve my attention, largely due to my new-found interest in shooting clays.

It’s casual 5-Stand. $5 a round plus shells. Depending on attendance, I generally get two or three rounds in.

Been snowed out for a couple of weeks. That’s been difficult, although a trip to a shooting preserve Monday eased the pain a bit. Now THAT’S expensive!
