Got a cow elk on a damage hunt yesterday, so took some pics of my rifle in the field. Custom 1952 model 70, Lilja barrel in .338 Win Mag. ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/RFKr8R98/20220119-135807.jpg)

Congrats on the elk and man, what a fine rifle. Nothing better to me than a good 338.

Handloaded 210 Nosler Partition at 330 yards. Bang flop with an extra for insurance as she was within 100 yards of the property boundary. It wasn't necessary as her heart was gone, but I've seen too many animals drop and then get back up.
I don't remember what velocity it gets. I had these loads from a different. 338 many years ago. Tried them in this rifle and it shot amazing. Don't remember how much powder offhand, but H414 is it. They stopped making H414, but a little research proved that W760 is the exact same powder. I've got 50 years worth of that ammo loaded.

Beautiful rifle! Congrats on the elk.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. P BSA
