According to the Economist, new gun buyers and the diversity they represent, spells doom for further gun control legislation. These various Soros' backed groups,ANTIFA,BLM and the bought and paid for Attorneys General and state prosecutors have overplayed their hands and have created a backlash of new gun owners.

OMG this is hilarious but in good way.lol

Gun-ownership in America is diversifying, because of safety fears.

PICTURE A GUNSLINGER and Annette Evans probably does not spring to mind. She is Chinese-American, lives in the suburbs of Philadelphia and identifies herself as socially liberal—not the archetypal conservative, rural white man. Yet she owns over a dozen rifles, pistols and shotguns (“one for every occasion, like purses or shoes”) and teaches self-defence courses to women. Her race and gender put her at risk, she says. “It may be a low chance that I’ll run into someone who will kill me, but without a gun, I’ll die.”

More gun-owners, especially new ones, look like Ms Evans. Of the 7.5m Americans who bought firearms for the first time between January 2019 and April 2021—as gun-buying surged nationwide—half were female, a fifth black and a fifth Hispanic, according to a recent study by Matthew Miller of Northeastern University and his co-authors. The share of black adults who joined the gun-owning ranks, 5.3%, was more than twice that of white adults. That is new: in a previous survey, in 2015, new buyers skewed white and male, though they were more politically liberal than long-standing ones. Overall, today’s gun-owners are still largely white (73%) and male (63%). But they are diversifying.

Gun culture has broadened its appeal. Decades ago most people bought guns for hunting and recreational shooting. Now they mostly do so for self-defence, which is a universal concern. People who feel vulnerable to crime or hold less faith in the police are more likely to arm themselves.

Rising murder rates in 2020 and 2021 heightened those anxieties (blacks are the likeliest victims). Membership of the National African American Gun Association grew in 2020 by more than 25%, to 40,000. Blacks have a long history of owning guns: Harriet Tubman toted them, Martin Luther King kept them at home. But this tradition was long “surreptitious”, says Aqil Qadir, a third-generation shooter who runs a firearms-training centre in Tennessee.

Many of the newer gun-owners see firearms as an equaliser—a remedy for the vulnerability they feel. The Pink Pistols, an LGBT group, proclaims “armed queers don’t get bashed”. “God made man and woman, but Sam Colt made them equal,” goes a markswoman’s maxim. Women’s gun-ownership has always trailed that among men: women tended to shoot because men in the family did. But Robyn Sandoval, boss of A Girl and a Gun, a shooting group, increasingly sees women buying guns on their own initiative: a third of new joiners to her organisation in 2021 said they were the only shooter in their family.

The broadening tent is good for manufacturers and bad for gun-control advocates. Owners are more politically active around gun issues than non-owners. Already it may have had an effect. According to polling by Gallup, in 2021 support for stricter laws dropped by five percentage points, to its lowest in seven years.

For that last year or maybe more,

Trips to LGS have seen more than just
Old white dudes with tobacco stained beards buying guns.

That’s good news for the good guys. When good people carry weapons, bad people have a tough time finding victims.
Just the same though, a socialist government cannot survive under an armed population.
I truly expect some kind of disarmament scheme. The government intends to control every person and every dime. Armed people can make such control extremely dangerous.
If they can’t outlaw firearms, they’ll try to make them prohibitively expensive to buy and shoot.
I believe that ultimately, this is why we’re having such a helluva time finding ammo and components.
The more people you can turn away at the cash register, the less people who will oppose idiotic legislation intended to gain more control whether it’s guns or population or money related.
The government they intend for us to live under simply cannot exist if the people have easy access to the tools needed for resistance.
It’s good news, but I still can’t feel much better.

In 1994 they passed the "assault weapons ban." It didn't ban a single "assault weapon." It didn't prevent the manufacture of a single one either. All it did was require new ones not to have bayonet studs and flash suppressors. And it expired in 10 years. Yet, Bill Clinton blamed it for letting the Republicans take the Congress for the first time in 40 years.

That's how unpopular it was.

In 1994 there were 500,000 AR15s in the US. Today there are 20,000,000. That's a lot of voters to infuriate.

Don't blame me. I voted for Trump.

Democrats would burn this country to the ground, if they could rule over the ashes.

That too is very good news , but after seeing public reaction to the election and the scamdemic, it still doesn’t impress me.
Of those people who bought these A/Rs the cold hard truth is that 75% would probably almost definitely agree to turn them in. Especially when you’re unable to afford to shoot them, and almost definitely after the government decides that since you own one, you’re a potential threat and can be treated as such.
I tell you honestly, this fight for private ownership of firearms is only beginning, and I’m afraid that we may not win it. WHETHER YOU SURVIVE IT IS UP TO YOU!!!!!

I was working at Bass Pro right when the massacre happened in San Bernardino. This was also right before the election where Hillary was all but inaugurated. Gun sales were through he roof and BP was out of all guns but a few SxS and black powder guns. I once saw this little old black lady come in. She looked like she just came from church, all gussied up. I greeted her and asked how to help. She said she was picking up her guns because where she lived, "them nixxers be crazy". I saw her later leaving with a Mossberg 590 and a Glock. Maybe it was a straw but she seemed sincere. It was a very diverse group of people buying guns at that time.

A long time friend croaked recently, his niece inherited everything. She was born and bred San Francisco, apparently he left a note in the gun room to call me before she made any big decisions. At first, she wanted it gone, now three weeks later after listening to my history BS on some of the old guns, as we inventoried, she texted me Friday, something to the effect, I am re-thinking selling this stuff, r u up for some shooting tutorials? Oh hell yes, maybe a convert in the making, I hope so. But, she has good genes in spite of her city upbringing, her great grandfather started one of the first ranches in the area to feed the prospectors and miners in the 1850's.

Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

This is good news for the RKBA, but not for anything else. Putting a gun in someone's hand does NOT turn a Progressive into a Conservative.

I question the wisdom of putting guns in the hands of people who will shoot at us.

It’s seems fairly obvious that our founders didn’t write the Bill of Rights for everyone… Big picture blacks and communist owning more guns isn’t really a net gain for this country anymore than more of them voting is.

But on the other hand, instilling some sense of self-reliance can be a positive thing. Especially in a world where the govt wants us dependent upon them for everything.

The criminals always get their guns. I'm glad to see law-abiding people, of all persuasions, taking an interest arming themselves, and feeling they don't need to rely on the govt for 'protection'.

It is when they're all congregated in the same place.

As for Caucasians on the right who insist on living in cities. Well,.. they need to get over that.

This is the only post here that has really impressed me.
The individual person is the fight that we gun people can win easily.
The more adamant shooters, not just gun owners, is the battlefield where can win. Buying and Owning a gun doesn’t make you willing to sacrifice to protect your Rights.
We need shooters, not gun owners.
