The problem with all large shot and Buckshot is finding the correct choke for your load. Most just do not put the time in.

Some constriction on turkey choke

You do not know, till you know. I install my own choke tubes in Riot Shotguns and Single barrels, become Turkey guns or long range buckshot guns. Also, some factory loads may pattern better than another factory load. Time and dedication is the answer, plus a little money.

I have killed hundreds of Coyotes and Bobcats, with #4 Buckshot, , from a Chopper, and on the ground, most of my shots are around 40 yards or less, no complaints here. Rio7

Unfortunately #4 buck is getting harder and harder to find. Supposedly some manufacturers stopped making it. I would have thought it’s being used more now that ever for predators.

RIO7, did you do the painting job at your gun? Would you mind to tell brand and model. I can't identify both.

I think a lot has to do with the size of the coyotes where you find them. When we ran hounds up north, lots of the coyotes went over 50 pounds and the two biggest I can recall seeing went 72 pounds on a scale. Number 4 buck was the choice of load for there they might cross fairly close, and everyone had a rifle in the truck for where they might have to watch for shots at longer distances. In my opinion, #2 lead is best reserved for foxes, which, in my experience, are a lot easier to kill than coyotes. I've killed foxes with steel 2's when duck hunting at surprising distance.
