Sounds a lot like TR going to Africa. I’d do like he did, use a 1895 in 405.

I sold the 375 mag, (wish I still had it). So it would have to be my 12 Ga Rem 11-87 Super Magnum 3 1/2 in.

For the folks running 12 gauge with slugs over a rifle, what are the thoughts on that versus a rifle with a somewhat tougher bullet? Just wondering, thought that was pretty interesting picks myself.

I would tie a sharp rock to a stick. You guys probably hunt with inline muzzle loaders too.

I'd bring my .450-400 3" Nitro Express Merkel 140AE double rifle. And mix of solids and softs. Bonded soft point worked OK for Cape buffalo, so the giant bison should be within reason. Not sure how big a mammoth is but the solids would provide some extra penetration.

Cz 550 in .375 H&H- might not be the best for mammoths, but it’s the best I got at the moment!

I would probably bring my Whitworth 458Win. It points better than my CZ550 458 Lott. My 348-450 AK Improved Model 71 would be in the running as well.

Why mess with the rest when you've got the best? The world record Mastodon was killed with a 22lr.

The same rifle I’ve carried since 1990.....with the same ammo I’ve used since the ‘90’s! If it ain’t broke! 😉 memtb
