All wood here. I have had a couple plastics but they just don't feel right. But then I don't have any of the ultra super short shoulder wrenchers or a safe-full of the newest models either. It's not about advantages, it's about what I like. I have never had a wood stock 'fail' and I do live where we hunt in some relatively harsh conditions.

I hear ya, sometimes I hunt with just slippers on cuzz they are so comfortable........

Gentlemen:
I fall into the camp of those who hunt exclusively with wood stocks, but I either have made them myself or at least extensively reshaped them all to fit me.
That said, I live in a desert and don�t intentionally go out into rain. I might melt you know!
While I�ve not visited where Mr. Steelhead calls home yet, I looked at it from the north shore of the Queen Charlottes and if I lived there, I�d be a stainless and synthetic hunter exclusively without question.
That country is a might damp���.

All our hunting guns have wood stocks except for a 77-22M turkey shooter the wife has with a boatpaddle. I tried to talk her out of getting that.

Until a month ago I had never owned a plastic stocked gun much less hunted with one. The one I bought is a Rem 7615Police and is also Parkerized. I shall probably never own another plastic stocked firearm.

Just about all I hunt with!

Wood in Weatherby, Winchester and Savage. Never could warm up to plastic. Don't care for the laminated stocks either.

There must be a bunch of masterbating going on some of those deer stands to hear the way you boys glow about wood.....

I'm going back to wood this year, nothing else feels as good in my hands.......

Walnut "figure" has never given me that urge....

I do love beautiful wood stocks however, as well as blued steel rather than stainless. If I was "making my own luck" and living in AK like I wish I was, then I'd go the stainless/McMillan route as it's clearly the low maint, trouble free, hassle free tool.

To the original question, most of my rifles, shotguns and handguns sport walnut, 'cept for a few lams and some factory Tupperware. Sealing the inletting and checkering with TruOil, then waxing, works well for my locale. YMMV.

I think fiberglass imparts more "hydrostatic shock energy" than does wood or carbon fiber, though a laminate is a close second to fiberglass. I think this is because when a fiberglass stock hits an animal, the specific molecular structure of the fiberglass sets up certain harmonic resonations within the animal that mirror the animal's actual brain wave frequencies, thus causing far greater hydrostaic shock energy than when the same animal is struck with a wooden stock.

So in my mind, if you are going to hunt with a stock, fiberglass just plain kills better. And given how great and noble these creatures are, it would be unethical and immoral no not use a true "premium" stock...........
