Gas wars, cheapest I remember was 19.9 cents a gallon in 1970.

We had Big Bonus and S&H Green stamp stores.

Self propelled reel type grass mower, had to wrap the rope around the flywheel.

Reel lawnmowers. I remember Dad bringing home our first petrol powered lawnmower. From Montgomery Ward. No rope to pull to start it. There was a crank on top of the engine, you'd wind it a few turns until it stopped, then push a button and the engine would crank and hopefully start. High tech!

Flav-R-Straws, remember them very well. The flavor was in a felt-like strip, terrible when the strip came loose from the inside of the straw.
