I need to advise you of your Carmen Miranda rights:
You have the right to wear fruit on your head
you have the right to sing songs in a different language
you have the right to wear too much bright red lipstick
You have the right to wear full dresses with cowboys on them
you have the right to wear a big floppy hat while dancing

DO YOU UNDERSTAND EACH OF THSE RIGHTS I JUST EXPLAINED TO YOU ??

Haha! JC Witless catalogs were great! I also remember drooling over the guns in the Western Auto catalog.

Buying anything I, as a kid wanted, cigarettes, knives, guns, ammo; they probably would have called my folks before selling me dynamite.

[quote=martinstrummer]Grampa buying seven .30-30 shells before deer season started.
Seven shells lasted him 2 seasons! 😳!

Buying 10 shotgun shells at Babcock Bros because I couldn't afford $1.25/bx ammo on my allowance*!
*- allowance my a$$! I worked for that $1!

A red and green box of Remington "Kleen-Bore" .22 LR for 50 cents at Collier's Store over at Swanson Hill. Riding my bike 2.5 miles over to buy it and then 2.5 miles back home!

/quote]

My Grandparents ran a general store in rural Tennessee. They always had "broke boxes" of .22s and shotshells with an X on the end flap. Imagine buying .22 LRs by the round. They sold as many shorts as long rifles because shorts were cheaper back then, and that's all it took to kill what people killed with .22s, even they guy that ran the slaughterhouse.

How many here were taught by their Dad, that a man wears a good belt and carries a pocket knife, wallet and watch. I have carried all of them since was 12 and I still do to this day. It bothers me to fly or go someplace I can't carry a pocket knife.
