Went to catholic grammar school and didn't get paddled but the nun's didn't take any crap from smart-ass grade schoolers. If I came home from school and complained that Sister Mary What's Her Name hit me, my old man would just say; "I'll bet you were asking for it". In later years a guy I know had a kid in catholic school who came home complaining about how he was treated and the guy told his kid; "That's why I pay them".
