Big Ed

They don't offer it on the 3-12x44 either. Odd.

Tried to get a pic of the #93 reticle just now, but failed... I think my camera was focusing beyond the reticle. I’ll try against sky next time.

Zeiss is funny that way. Why not offer the 3-12x44 with a turret?! I’d be all over that.

I think Zeiss’s US marketing is a bit chaotic and (no pun) unfocused. They originally included a 1-4x24 in the V4 lineup. Cool scope- I have two, on AR’s. It’s clearly meant as an AR scope but I think they got cold feet about marketing it as such so they tried to call it a slug gun scope or something silly... . One feature it has that I’d like to see on the other V4’s is that the elevation turret also locks; you lift it to unlock it. Also, it has 1/2,MOA clicks. Obviously I’d not want that on the bigger scopes, but it’s a sweet AR optic!

Ran up to the hills and went shootin’ today. I used both the 44mm and 50mm version of the 4-16... just to reiterate, the 44 is a really nice scope. The 50 does have, as I’ve said, a bit better sight picture at 16x; saw that again today. And in other tests, it’s definitely tangibly brighter. But the 44 has no flies on it; a very nice optic.

I cannot yet achieve a decent reticle pic and I’m embarrassed by that. My older iPhones took reticle pics; with this one I’m flailing. However, this does give a sense of the “crosshair” I was talking about with the #93....

You realize some of us have less willpower than is good for our wallets. Darn you JeffO for appealing to my greedy 50mm is better than 44 & in stock now.

I thought I had a bad Leupold 4.5-14x50 on my 7mm RM after a hard drop knocked it off zero so gave it a try on my 25-06. It dialed in perfectly & improved the groups on that rifle so now I have a flimsy excuse to buy a new scope. The new v4 4-16x50 gets here Wednesday along with the 30mm new rings. This will be the 7th scope on this rifle in the 46 years I’ve owned it. The first conquest lasted 20+ years maybe this one will too.

I need other people to buy them up so I can’t! smile

I hope it all a’ that for you. Be sure to play with setting the zero stop in the well-lit comfort of home the first time. It’s not hard, but the first time is a little finicky.
