My wife planned an open house party for me yesterday. Some 40 people showed up from 3 until 8 pm and as usual we had three times the needed amount of food and beverages on hand. I had three ground rules: No presents, No cake, and absolutely No singing. People can't obey rules. Got some nice wine and beer.
Now comes the cleanup, which I suspect will take about as long as it took to plan the thing. We'll tackle it a bit slower though. Still have family in town today and flying out tomorrow.
Once again, thanks to all of you for the very kind thoughts and wishes. I vow to take life one day at a time from here on out. Today is # 27,396...
...and counting.

Well, two of the platters we ordered were desserts, and there were cookies, brownies - and slices of cake on it. But there was to be no damned "birthday cake" with a foot of frosting and candles. And there wasn't. I can't stand frosting in particular and sweets in general but I did have one piece of plain cake just to be a good host.
I threatened the crowd with a loaded Super Soaker for the first miscreant who started singing "Hap..." Luckily, I did not have to employ that weapon.
