I knew this thread would smoke out some closet liberals. Calling Jim a liberal is BS, Pat. Expand your knowledge base and maybe you'll figure out where he's coming from.

Nah...regressing is not on my list.
The only thing worse than a liberal is a liberal that thinks they're a conservative.

Oil is a part, but it’s only a part…. 100 years ago, folks did just fine without it…. We still fought wars. It’s always easier to blame someone or something else for our own shortcomings….
A hundred years ago we were indeed fighting our wars using oil. That fact aside, oil is nothing but a powerful poker chip in world power. Before the age of oil and combustion engines, other commodities were the powerful poker chip. It's always been that way. It'll always be that way. He with the most poker chips wins. That's just the way it is. So that would justify what we did under W Bush? I haven't seen anywhere where he, or anyone else has ever said it was justified, BUT, it's just the way it is, and will always be. He with the most oil makes the rules.
It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

Sad thing is we could be in control of our energy needs but choose not to be. Absolute insanity.

What do you mean "in control" of our energy needs? Reckon he means we need not import any foreign oil?

If we were to make it so that we can't buy oil from other countries...will our oil companies promise to sell it to us cheap?

The idiot in the WH made Putin a strongman by shutting down our pipelines and drilling. He put the brakes on the Medgas pipieline supported by Israel, Greece and Europe that would have supplied EU with gas from the Mediterranean to replace Russian gas. Then he ok’s the Russian oil pipeline. You can blame Biden and John Kerry 100% for this.

I could ask the same for corn. Or any other commodity. Beef. Beans. Cotton. If we shut down import/export it would take the global market out of the equation, right? But then we'd still have the dumbass govt regulatory agencies.

As long as it's a traded commodity, you need to ask your buddies on Wall Street about pricing.

Independence from foreign competition, hell yeah.
To a point anyway.
At the very least not overly reliant on someone else to keep you going.
Food, energy, whatever.
That philosophy carries right on down to the individual. At least it should.

We should put OUR country first. Not politicians getting massive kickbacks from commodity traders for regulating in their favor. Solve a few problems wouldn't it? It doesn't do much good to sell a year's calves when the market is glutted with foreign beef. Or govt regulations favor the middleman. Same for everything else.
