Russia will defeat Ukraine, but it can't HOLD it. Not with only 190K men anyway. We went into Iraq ( amuch smaller place) with 140 and we ended it in short order ( alot batter than the untrained, poorly equipped Russians), but we couldn't hold the place entirely.

It’s really reckless to turn the dollar into a weapon and to debank entire countries like Justin Trudeau did to Canadians. Trudeau had to back down because there was a run on the banks because people no longer trusted them. The same thing will happen to the dollar though it wil take a bit more time.
Our leadership is increasingly erratic. And countries don’t know exactly what it is going to do. If you use dollars, you are a slave to the US, subject to being cut off and having your entire economy ruined because you’ve crossed the idiots in charge in DC. Such a system was acceptable when the people in charge were rational, intelligent, and stable persons. But now they’re all woke idiots who are racing to virtue signal on Twitter. No one wants to be part of a system where idiots like that control the very economic lifeblood of your country. They’ll look for something else and they will go to it much sooner now than they would have. If nothing else, these incidents should make each one of us evaluate our personal dependence on the dollar, especially when used through credit cards, Apple Pay, Paypal, Venmo, etc.

I don't think they'll need to hold it in the traditional sense. There may be enough ethnic Russians in Ukraine that all Russia will have to do is make a big show with soup lines and repair projects. If the Russians have captured Ukrainian soldiers turn in their weapons and they give the soldiers some food and walking money and tell them to go home, I think that will happen.

Yeah, the fantasies about some sort of insurgency are just that, fantasy. The Ukrainians are Russians. Modern Russians aren’t communists. The Ukrainian national identity was born in resistance to communism more than an objection to Russians. And that particularly applies to Ukrainians east of the Dnieper and that is the part of the country Putin will take the east, and the western part of the country will be rump state and a neutral western looking country. The East will be Russia as it pretty much always was.
