I'll get a few pics of it tomorrow, stock looks a lot like a Ruger (except with cheek piece).

I'll get a few pics of it tomorrow, stock looks a lot like a Ruger (except with cheek piece). They are nice rifles, like others have said. Some actually had very nice stocks and finishes on them. I've had some that looked like the glossy Remington 700 BDL's. As for accuracy, one of the most accurate rifles I had was a MKX 243 win. That was a shooting sob, but the stock did not fit me well, since I shoot left handed. I ended up selling it to someone that wanted it more than I did, but I still miss it for how well it shot. I'm sure yours will be just fine. If not, glass bed it and freefloat the barrel, work up a good load and I'm sure it will shoot lights out..
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I think the Whitworth Express rifles were as nice a working grade DG rifle as any I've seen.

I have built 3 Mark X's in 30-06 and a 300 WM for sons, a 243 for a daughter in law. They shoot very well, under an inch fairly easily and sometimes much less. They have accounted for a pile of whitetails. I obviously wouldn't say they are equal to pre 64 Win customs by any means but they are fine serviceable hunting rifles Phil

Very nice rifle. The stock appears to have been reshaped or more likely replaced. It appears to have a semi-beavertail fore end with an angled tip and the pistol grip seems cut a little differently than I remember. Could be wrong. But a fine piece.

One other thing, I believe you have a custom barrel as well. The lug looked a little short to me and the 257 Rob stamp didn’t seem right. I checked a few things and confirmed Interarms chamber markings from the factory start with “Cal”, as in Cal .270. At least all I’ve had or seen pictures of. Not a negative in any way. If you have a custom stock and a rebarrel you very well may have a slicked up action.

GreggH Ditto mine shoots very well also, the factory irons are superb. The other Mark x is a real special rifle to me 1 of 5000 or so made in Salt Lake city by Emdeko . A mark X action with a 5 groove PO Ackley barrel in 270 win. 24 " and is quite a shooter. PO Ackley did the barreling for Emdeko. ...mb

The McMillan stock was a nice fit more or less a classic shape. If a 30 mm scope is attached the cheek piece may be a tiny bit low. Here is a 7 Rem mag with a 1" leupold
