I have a Weaver GS on my Marlin GG and several VX3s. I don't have any VX2s to compare to, but would say that the Weaver compares very favorably to the VX3s I have. Honestly I can't tell a difference. The Weaver GS is a very good value in my opinion. It's also held up to some intense recoil on top of my GG.

how is the Weaver warranty service? Is the Weaver scope pretty tough? I have not owned one in a long while (old 6X) but I have beat up both Zeiss and Leupold scopes and they seem to be pretty rugged in the drop rifle test or the bang rifle against the tree while pulling it up with rope test. Most scopes are pretty similar these days in performance it really boils down to how the company treats its customers (warranty and service) as well as durability to average or worse (in my case) use. I really have little personal experience to report regarding the durability of the Weavers. All I can say is that the one I have has held up to several hundred stiff rounds through my GG in the past year or so.

Also can't speak to the warranty question. I believe all the major scope makers have pretty good warranties.
