I lost my D2 rat the other day. I think it fell into the blown-in insulation in the attic of the shop when I was running some wire. I'm sure not going to go digging through the fiberglass to find it. Anything new/improved since we settled this debate last time? I found R2-D2 today! He was in the bottom of the rachet strap tote. Not in the attic insulation as I had thought!

Bought 5 R2s for Christmas. 1 for each female in the house, for me, And one for a daughters boyfriend.
The cheaper steel. It's good enough, and easy to sharpen quick. No worrying (too much) about abusing the blade.
The girl and boyfriend got the limited run Ivory scales. I felt kinda bad. He was beside himself over that dam knife. You would have thought he got some engraved custom thing, not a $20ish Taiwanese thing. Stuck it in his pocket, haven't seen him without it since.

I have been carrying a Ferrum Forge S30V liner lock with carbon fiber scales. It is way classier than the R2D2. A little smaller, and I like the flipper opener. Don't see it on their site - I bought it off drop.com.
However, when I found the Rat, it went right back to #1 EDC position. Gets sharp quicker, and don't have to sweat the scratches...

I expect the R2D2 to stay sharp longer than my current Gerber LST with 420HC. 😉

Mini griptillian, any blade shape, steel, or color.
OR, any knife that works for you. It's better than not having one.

R2D2 is in my EDC rotation of 3 knives. The other two are a Spyderco SS Delica w/VG10, and a Kershaw CF Leek w/CPM154. All are great knives, but $ wise the R2D2 is a real bargain. .

My favorite is a Steel Will Cutjack C22, D2 blade. I much prefer the flipper to a thumb stud and the flat profile works best for me.
For a USA made I like the looks of a Kershaw Link with a CPM 20CV blade, $82 or the Dividend with a D2 composite blade also $82 I'm still debating which Kershaw I need to order.

I don't know best.
Mini-grip for the longest time. It's lost, I guess. I was waiting for it to turn up but it's been a few years now.
R2-D2 covered for a while, but then got a BM northfork. It's a favorite.

This thread made me think of a Kershaw Gentlemans Folderove got floating around in some pack, or drawer, or pocket in my truck. Nice little lockback that they discontinued.
I would carry my Kersaw 1993-2 VG-10 Gentleman's a lot more if it were more easily replaceable. It mostly gets carried in a back pack as a back up so it can't accidentally slip out of a pant pocket. It is a sweet one for sure. Brother Watchman makes a “copy” of the Kershaw Gentkemans Folder, but cheaper handle materials and 440c steel. I haven’t put it through the paces yet, but against my Kershaw it’s very very close, at $25. I tried to get Kershaw to bring out another run of them and they said no, so I don’t feel quite as bad with the pure Chinesium knife. Cheesy, I own a couple of the Kershaw 1993-2 VG10 Japan knives and find them to be an excellent folder. The Kershaw is in its own class, more of a scalpel as compared to a heavy-duty Benchmade. That said I ordered a Watchman 1502 based on your post, I was surprised with the quality, better than I expected, especially for the price. Going to have fun with this one and use it harder than my unobtainium Kershaw's.
By the way I was of the impression that Moki made these knives for Kershaw.
