These are Josh Clarke's very popular Rifleman's Belt axes. These are always in short supply and this is part of the small group that I just received this week.

These are 100% AMERICAN MADE and make GREAT gifts.

Josh starts with a US made Vaughn Hatchet that have been hand picked for fit finish and handle grain structure.

The head is reshaped ,reground and polished into a close copy of the Original US War department issue Rifleman's belt axes made in the 1790s. This axe is the Reinforced style head with the added metal in the throat area.

The head is polished , blued and given a razor sharp 25 degree inclusive cutting bevel. The performance rivals anything coming out of Sweden these days and I believe the heads are actually a bit tougher and less prone to chipping.

The Axe is just 23 oz and is 13.5 inches long. The head is an Iroquois style with a hammer poll . These polls are heat treated and can actually be used to drive metal stakes unlike most axes and hatchets.

The handle is slimmed down , hand sanded and torched .Then it's given six coats of pure Tung oil .The resulting finish is smooth but still grippy. The Axe comes with one of Josh's hand sewn Vegetable tanned leather masks (shown in the second pic)

NOTE- In the pics, the light washes out the Broadsword marking ion the blade but rest assured they are all deeply marked with it. See Second pic below

.Retail on the Axe with edge mask is normally $129. My price is $129 SHIPPED in CONUS and it includes Josh's hand made $15 Leather throat Collar as well.

PayPal or USPS MO as payment Please .

Love my axe.

Are there plans for any of the 2 knife sets
in the near future ? I missed them the last go around.

Does he have to torch the handle?

That is a definite turn-off for me.

Sorry you feel that way. Everyone has a different viewpoint and will say most folks really like it. I also know that it took Josh about a year of trial and error to get a consistent look with the handle color that pleased him.

The "ringtail " pattern is sort of a signature with him now and no other axe looks like his.

Since he makes them one at a time I am sure it you wanted a plainer lightly torched handle , he would do one for you.

How do these throw? With the axe throwing craze going on, inquiring minds want to know if these are balanced for that activity

I would NEVER throw a quality axe or hatchet made for cutting. There are cheap cast imported axes made and balanced for throwing and I would use one of them.

The handles break the most ,so I would buy a cheap throwing tomahawk for easy handle replacement,

I wouldn't be caught w/o it around the farm. Excellent build. It's bailed me out more than once fixing fence.
Bought my hunting part the longer handled one for his cabin. He always has it with him when he's out roaming around.
Thanks for a great product!!
