Well Sony made bigger sensors than Cannon (beyond full frame - i.e. Medium format)…
So now Canon leaked making an Even bigger sensor (Canon Medium format digital)..
BUT more important - they patented a Curved sensor so they can now get better sharpness, and reduce the number of elements in the lenses that are there because of the flat sensor.
I think I read your post to quickly. I thought you were touting a Sony upcoming MF Camera. Fuji has been at that game for a while now...I think they're on their third iteration with the GXF50 and GFX100. I've got a friend with a GFX and he says he had to upgrade to a new Computer with mega storage to edit the image. ...and with all that, the only benefit he's gaining is extra resolution for when he want to produce bigger than poster images (think Billboard). He did a demo for me where he grabbed an image he shot at the beach. There was a airliner waaay in the background and he cropped in on the plane and showed me amazing resolution for a non-subject incidental capture. Of course he was shooting f16 or something waaay choked down.
I don't anticipate needing a MF camera in my wildest dreams in the next 5 years.
Let me make sure I understand…you’re shooting an older Nikon and looking to jump to Canon because you’re not happy with your images… but now you’re considering jumping to MF because you read something about Sony chasing that market?
If you’re just spitballing (because it is after all the Campfire)…then carry on. …and sorry for inserting my reality view.
