What vacuum food saver do you guys consider the best for home use?
We have had two, Food Saver brand systems from Costco and they are OKAY. I think we paid $175-225 each, depending how long ago it was.
My current Food Saver does not seal perfectly, probably 30% of the time. It does it enough and wastes film that it has me wondering what’s a better product.
I don’t need an industrial type vacuum but what’s the better mouse trap I should get?

IMO if your going to step up from a Food saver type sealer a Vacuum chamber sealer is the way to go. They are expensive but work awesome.

Explain how anyone here could know whats best? To know, one would have to use every model on the market extensively for several years. That, ain't happening.
What you might get, are opinions on a few models individuals have experience with. Useful information that, but not "Best".
Oops, someone dropped a model, someone else added one.
And my BIL's third cousins FIL now says XXYPD model is chitt. It was great. But it died.
See what I'm getting at?
Even sales people won't know. They surely don't sell every one on the market.
Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!

I have the stainless LEM. It will suck a can flat. It will also get hot after about 30 minutes of continuous use and has to be shut down for 5 minutes to cool. It's noisy, don't know if they are all loud but I love it for what it does. BUT I will not buy a LEM when this one craps out. I'm considering getting chamber sealer, will probably get one when mine dies.

I've had a $120 Food Saver Platinum Sportsman for 10 years now. It runs on A/C current or 12 VDC, just as well. Very convenient when on the boat, or out in the field on the truck, or even the ATV. It even came in a great nylon carry case.
I know it's not in the same league as these commercial units y'all are referencing, but it's processed a freight car of game over the years with no complaints. Yeah, it's slower, but that just gives me an excuse for another beer or too.

Been using a Foodsaver 360 from Wally World for years now. It has packed countless bags of deer, fish, pork sausage, chicken and beef. If and when it goes out , l may get one of the chamber gizmos. If I were just starting out with vacuum packing I believe I would go straight to the chamber model.

I would not say it is the best, but I bought a Food Saver and it has done me well.
I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects
I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

I am REALLY liking my Avid Armor chamber sealer. ~$400 on Amazon. Bags are very inexpensive and a cool thing about chamber sealers is the ability to do liquids like soups etc.
The truth angers those whom it does not convince

I had not even considered a chamber sealer and that will be the next move. Thanks guys! You should see a big step up in quality of foods from the chamber... they get more air out and you can use much better quality bags. The retort bag option for "canning" is huge.

Did you buy this item? Maybe you need to start a new thread so people will open it? I'm interested.

I bought a meat your maker chamber sealer and that thing is a big time work horse. We processed 250 lbs. of burger and a bunch of steaks and roast in a day and a half ,thing worked amazing. First experience with a chamber sealer was up in Alaska last summer processing halibut, Rock fish and Salmon, we did 200 lbs. in 3 1/2 hours.
