After shopping and considering all the “Camper Shells” and options I decided I wanted an RSI Evo-Sport camper shell.
Designed and built in Africa, it’s basically a lion proof safari camper shell made of stainless steel.
Expensive, but it has lots of features that are costly options on a Leer.
Problem. Local dealers said it was backordered 5 to 6 months.
Called the factory rep He suggested I call “Offroad alliance” an on line 4X4 supplier, as they had some on order for a few months already.
They ship it as a kit and you assemble it yourself. Offroad alliance was very good to work with and my kit showed up sooner than expected. Took me and my son a couple of hours to assemble it.
I must say, South African engineering is a pleasant surprise from the typical Asian stuff. Everything fit together correctly, and the instructions were easy to understand.
Some things that make the Smart cap worth the money. The side windows are huge, you could easily load or un load this thing from the sides, or get to things packed in the nose from the side. It appears to seal up almost dust and water proof. The locks on all openings are a lot better the typical fiberglass shells. It actually provides some security for your belongings. Did I mention, it’s made out of stainless steel ?

Nice, thanks for posting up. Be sure to post back after some time goes by with further impressions. I’ve had a cap on almost all of my trucks and find them very useful for my purposes.

Thanks for the post Dan!
That definitely looks to be a step up from fiberglass.
That Taco will likely outlast all of us.
Hope you are well!
