I have a rarely used Leica 1200 that I keep to range silhouette distances. Anyway I pulled it out of the case, and nothing. I bought new batteries and nothing.
So will Leica repair it or am I SOL?

yeah they should repair it, probably for $100 or so. people whine and complain about leica, its not amazing customer service, but I would call it adequate.

I sent mine in for a missing part and a good going over. Received an email stating they were replacing it. Took about 3 weeks total. Good communication on their end. No complaints here.

Lost the case for my Leica 900 RF. Called and asked if I could buy a replacement case. They sent me one, free.
Of course,I then found the one I lost.

I found the original box, and receipt. It was 599.00 at Cabelas in 2010.
I sent Leica a repair request via their web page.
So, we will see................

It was several years back, but I sent back an older Leica CRF range finder to Leica’s warranty people
(don’t remember which model) because it wouldn’t read over 500 yards or so. They sent me back a 1200 CRF, which was an upgrade at that time and it was totally free of charge. They even emailed me to keep me updated on their findings.
Don’t know why so many bad mouth them but they treated me right.

Leica’s CS and warranty has been hit and miss over the years. It almost seems as though it depends on what the CS people had for breakfast that day.

It does appear as though their North American repair facility has expanded their repair services beyond a simple cleaning in recent years. Used to be most repairs had to make the trip across the pond to the Motherland in the past…..

In the past 3-4 years Leica CS has become one of the finest around. People still have a bad taste from years ago so they like to talk it down, however, anyone who had recent dealings is pleased

My rangefinder was delivered 2 weeks ago, but they never sent me an acknowledgement. That gets me a bit concerned, so if I get some time, I'll see if I can get them by phone.

Thanks Doug. That is good to know. I recently bought a Leica range finder and love it. Hoping I never have to send it back though..

Leica did send me updates, but it was in the spam folder.
A new/refurb 1600 arrived via UPS today. A good upgrade from my 1200. So overall excellent service.
