Almost any 139/140gr bullet out of the 7-08 is deadly on deer since it's not a hot rod. Try RL15 or Varget.............

I have been using 41 gr. of Varget under the 145 gr. Speer SP for 2700 fps from my 7mm-08. It also likes 41 gr. of Varget under the 139 gr. Hornady IB, which I have not shot through the chrono yet.

Looked back through my loading data and found that I used 42grs of H4895 and got 2853fps with the 139gr SST. That load is .5gr under the max in Hodgdon manual, and the listed max velocity was 2857fps so it was right there. Varget and RL15 both shot almost 100fps slower. CCI200 primers were used. Cant comment on the accuracy part, that is why the rifle is gone.

I use an old Bob Milek load in my wife's Model 7 Remington 7mm-08, 44.5 grains of IMR 4064 and 130 grain Speer bullets. It shoots .75 in. for 3 shots off the sandbags. So far it has accounted for 3 elk, a moose, and 3 white-tails.

DrHJH, That's the same load that a friend at work uses. Bang flop. I prefered to load with H4895 in my 7/08 and never got around to trying 4064 although I knew it was very popular with the more astute 7/08 shootes.
Gonna hafta try the 130 Speer in my 284. Heck of a lot cheaper than TSXs.

My "go to" load has been 139 Hornady Spire Points (they have a very short bearing surface) with H4350 starting at 46 grains and working up to 49 (50 grains is published by Hogdon) with WW brass and CCI 200 primers. 47 grains worked well with the Speer 145 grain spitzer and the old Grand Slam, and in my new 700 CDL SF, 47 to 48 grains works well with 140 grain NPs, and the Hornady Spire Point. Varget has done nothing for me yet, but I tend to go the heavier weight of bullets and slower powder as the deer are quite "stout" north of 53.

WGM, I second that load of RL 15, however, for killing I like the Nosler 120gr BT.. Good deer and hog load.. Agreed. Travis
