It was pretty funny when our birding group heard a Northern Parula up in the trees, but we couldn't see it. Then someone Googled it, turned the volume of their phone up and called the thing right in.
Ya, that’s cheating 🙂 Years ago me and a noted Ornithologist were crawling through a muddly swamp trying to get a visual on the westernmost record of a breeding Swainson’s warbler. Hours of literal crawling through dense brush, mosquitoes, chiggers, the works.
Finally he pulls out a tape recorder and plays the song, the friggin’ bird flew right at him, almost hit him in the head, and perched singing maybe 5 feet up 🙂
