Is here anyone here that has never done either?

I've shoveled hay.

I have.

Both are over rated.

From before it hit the cows mouth and again when it comes out.

Our neighbor bales our hay.

Neither here....

But have done plenty of slinging, stacking, and throwing stuff.
And plenty of shovel work.

Fighting positions and sandbags come to mind....
Too many to even wanta remember on this rock.

Anyone ever slope a correct floor with by the book 1 etool deep 20 to 22" and 6" wide grenade sumps front to back walls on both sides???

Or just half azz the schit???

I thought I was rich at 13 years old making 7 cents a bale for a 1000 bale day.

Yes . A lot of hay. Filled sacks with oats to go to to the feed store.

Cleaned the barn , pulled tits and all the rest, that goes with a dairy farm in northern Wisconsin..

Most fun prolly getting the old 2 wheeled drive tractor ,with chains , stuck in -30 with 2-3' of snow pulling the s h i t spreader , .....then back to

the barn with a frozen spreader to park inside so it can thaw out.

Shoveled goat chit out of a small barn once. The ammonia almost kilt me.

I highly recommend either....builds character! Another one of merit is the 50's method of pulling a trailer behind a cotton stripper in west Texas. The machine pretty much just dumped loose cotton at the front where a highly trained 13 yr old technician forked it to the back and then tromped it down. That latter involved some high stepping since it was nigh waist deep....would tax even the most gifted athlete. All while snorting tons of cotton lint and dirt.

Yes, I have. Along with bailing hay and shoveling corn and beans. None of those jobs are any fun but they had to be done. Well, that grenade sump was all bullshit.

One of man's greatest inventions was the hay bale retriever. However, it did put a lot of us high school boys out of summer work.

Ain’t baled hay, but hauled a bunch of it. I quit that when fire ants showed up in 72.

Hated bailing hay when I was a teenager.
I had hay fever, and my eyes would swell shut, but it had to be done.

The doctors say, Don' t bend over, and twist your back.

bailed lots of hay growing up .and shoveled lots of grain after it processed thru horses and cows

Yep stacked many a bale on the wagon and in the barn. Didn't know what I was getting into when I married the farmer's daughter. BUT she is worth it!

I am well versed in all shoveling techniques.......when you show up on a construction site with no tools you become chief operator of the idiot stick.......

Baled quite a bit of tobacco in my day, which was prior to mass immigration and mechanization. Managed to finish that 5 year summer program without becoming a smoker.
