Anyone have a Sako S20 in 300 win mag or 7mag? Any thoughts, pros, cons?

Looks like 300wm is now 1:10 twist.

Watch the tour of the sako factory on YouTube. The amount of checking and qc they do on their guns exceeds what most custom rifles will see. They test fire every gun for accuracy as well. I would look for an s20 in a non magnum. I don’t like belted magnums for max accuracy. I think the s20 looks badazz, especially the thumb hole version

I fondled one in a local store. I really thought I’d hate it but I actually really liked it. I normally hate thumbhole stocks but this one was exceptionally well thought out and fit my medium sized hand like a glove. On the other hand, their target stock model with a more vertical type grip did not fit me well at all. They could easily serve a dual
Purpose of hunting and PRS because they are not so heavy that you cannot hunt with one. The one I fondled was a .308 so I can’t comment on how the longer barrel would affect the feel/balance. I suspect that if you did not like it that it would retain its value very well. Let us know if you get one and how you like it.

Oh one thing I thought was the barrel looked pretty light contoured. I would prefer a little more meat in the barrel. Loved the built in pic rail.

Good morning to you sir, I hope the fire's hot and the coffee's on at your house too and all within it are well.

A good friend recently picked up an S20 in 6.5PRC with the target stock. It's got a fairly long barrel - going off memory I'd say maybe it was 24" or so?

Overall fit and finish was very good I felt. I liked the feature of the rear of the stock being able to be removed with one bolt in that it'd make for changing it out or a smaller/shorter case for travelling.

We were just about to get to shooting the thing when Christmas and family tasks took precedence. Once this cold weather breaks we'll see if we can get it down to the local range to sight it in before taking it up into the mountains for some distance shooting.

Sorry to the OP in that this didn't answer anything other than the fit, finish and ergonomics really.

All the best and Happy New Year.

Dwayne

I've actually handled one since the OP. They were on sale in 6.5 prc for 1499. If one could find ammo it would be a sweet gun.

I really like the precision stock.

Good morning, thanks for the update, I trust all is going well as can be in your world.

Up here across the medicine line all of the ammo, brass and frankly any reloading component situation has been chaotic and completely unpredictable at best.

Buddy who I spoke of bought all of the loaded ammo that the store which sold him the S20 had.

I and another buddy who do the online thing have been madly scanning for brass which might have made it up here, but so far it's scarce.

The fit of the precision stock was pretty good for me though perhaps a wee bit long, but at 5'6" on a tall day I'm no giant so that's expected.

Once we get that thing out and stretch it's legs a little I'll try to remember to report our findings.

All the best and Happy New Year.

Dwayne

Don’t know if anyone is interested but Cabelas has them at a $500 discount, says they are blemished.
I ordered one and it came in without a mark on it.

I bought one of these in 6.5 creed since i do not own any in that cal... just started with it and have only ran around 25 - 30 rounds through it... load work up at this point.. so far it certainly show a lot of promise with 140 barnes bullets over H4350 5 shot groups going into groups that cna be completely covered by a dime.

I have not played yet with COAL and different charges but I like it so far. the fit and finish is great. I have the one with the non thumb hole stock.

I put my t3x in a krg bravo instead of buying an S20. The krg bravo was worth it. Acis mag, ergos, awesome.

Thanks for the heads-up 257. I think I'm gonna snag one of these.

A little on the heavy side, but for most of my hunting it wouldn't matter.

After handling one and looking at the entire package it's apparent a lot of detailed engineering went into the design.

Highly doubt it would fit the 75 pattern. Barreled action fits into an aluminum rail , do not know if the rail has indents for a 75 lug. Of course the 75 lug can be removed and. a Tikka T3 lug might work in the recess.

Would a tikka t3 prefit screw into the S20 action?

Judging by the thickness of its magazine don't think it would work. I think the S20 is closer to an A7.

Just picked one of these up from Cabelas, listed as display/blemished, box was beat up but could not find a mark on the gun. 6.5 PRC precision 600.00 off list.

Check their website.

Looks like they just have the 6.5mm Creedmoor now, but for awhile it was only the 6.5mm PRC (Hunter and Precision versions).
