I get a flare up of shuttlecock right about now as summer begins.
Get all raw from floppin around Commando in sweaty Dungarees, rubbing against that 2 lb monofilament they sew them together with behind the zipper.
I was squirming around at Rudys BBQ thr other day. Like I had some neurological issue

i have played both games and the corn hole game is less of a mess and my little grandkids can play the corn hole game safer . my vote is for the corn hole game it can be set up and taking down so easy too. i just purchased a cheap corn hole game set seems fun , grandkids sure like it . i might buy a good set yet to for the lake.

Men throw horse shoes. Playing with bean bags is for women, kids, and pu$$ies.
Don't fire unless fired upon. But if they want a war let it begin here.

Supposedly Cincinnati is one of the founding Meccas of Cornhole. I don't know. It started showing up her about 30 years ago. The only time I ever came in contact with the term previous to this was in its other usage. One of my Dad's tenants ran afoul of a gang of alternate lifestyle types back in the twenties and in the 70's, he was still rather put out with the imposition. He used that term.
I have a friend that used to be a top radio jock in the Long Island market. He was doing a shift at the station located to Ground Zero on 9/11. He walked home across the bridge in all the hoo-haw, loaded up the family and moved to Cincinnati. He said Cincinnati was an intense culture shock. He'd reported to his friends back in Long Island that he'd had the whole family out to a Cornhole Tournament at Voice of America Park and then stopped home for 3-Ways at the local chili parlor.
In our circle horseshoes was a common past time. My father, back when he was a bachelor, was a scion of the Six O'Clock Horseshoe and Social Club over in Westwood. From what I understand the pits are still there and still contain the imported English clay that his generation brought in.

There are lots of similar games. Bocce, pitanque, horseshoes, marbles, bowles, curling, pitching pennies..... aim at a target, opponent can dislodge your shot.
A different genre is target shooting,; archery, bowling, darts, golf, beanbag toss ( I dislike the other term despite the origin in shucking corn),
Games moving a ball to a goal, or hitting it and accomplish a task before it is returned.
Games of speed....

When did a slang term for anal sex turn into a yard game? I must have missed the memo somewhere along the way!

I sat back watching some fambly of fleshy white folks playing cornhole at Orange Beach in Ala.
Every time one of the lou lou or betty jean or crazy carl or junior made one in, they’d holler “Boom, spaceman” and do some jog in place jiggle from the waste up.
I…i don’t know. It was a study of anthropology for me

I think you're probably right. First we ever heard about it around here was back in the mid to late 80s when the Buckeye Navy started bringing cornhole sets to the lakes.
