I’ve been considering a tripod and was wondering what those thats use them suggest? Brand, type, etc…. Do you prefer a saddle or do you like the arca swiss gun mounts?

My favorite is a Rekon with a saddle. It’s the lightest one I’ve found so far.

When someone mentions tripods, I instantly think of my Caldwell Magnun Fieldpod. I'll admit that I don't have any experience with any other because this one does all I need it to.

I have a Bog Pod Death Grip. It's very solid and easy to use.

Arca is the only way to go. I use a cheap Vanguard bipod with the center column removed. I built an aluminum plug for the column that mounts an Arca clamp and Chinesium ball head. I have an arca rail mounted on everything I own that might get use on a tripod.

Clamps are heavy and cumbersome.

I started 12 years ago using shooting sticks for predator calling, then got a 27 1/2 inch Harris bipod. The fall of 2020 I got a Bog Pod, it is the best thing I have ever used for predator calling and jack rabbit hunting.

I've only used two. Caldwell fieldpod and bog pd death grip. Son uses the Caldwell. Both work very well. Would like both better if lighter and quicker to set up.

Only used the death grip a small amount but so far no complaints. My buddys daughters were hitting beer cans…. I mean coke cans EVERY shot at 50 yards with my .22. They are 9 and 12. It was great fun.
