Tom, it’s hard to figure. Perhaps you recall the Cliven Bundy affair? He sparked a locally staffed and armed standoff against the feds that led to the feds packing up and departing.
One small misjudgment on either side could have sparked a fire. The Feds ultimately were able to murder Levoy Finnicum so they got their bloodlust temporarily satiated.

We're being led down a path that leads nowhere but destruction by a minority group of propped up power mad fools." ........................................That's how governments get taken over.......... LEGALLY... with no big revolution or war. All done legislatively by those in power. Just like Germany in the 1920's into the early 1930's when the ruling party enacted " The Enabling Act Of 1933". You don't have to take my word for it; just look it up. The ruling party changed the rules to give Hitler ( and themselves) unlimited power. Just like a lot of our current politicians would like to do.

Good post. As I sit with an infant granddaughter, I mourn for the republic I was born and raised in.

It's on my mind a lot. I worry about my kids and grandkids. Keep them truly informed.

I believe Clinton was the first President to put himself before our country.
Some of his predecessors were certainly stupid. Some of them were ignorant. Some of them were poor leaders. Some of them were evil. But I think their intentions were to maintain or increase the greatness that is the United States of America. I believe Clinton and his people were more than happy to burn this country to the ground if it gained them power, influence, or money.
It's been downhill since with the exception being Trump. I think Trump did so much to expose what our federal government has become that he will go down in history as infallible. But only if patriots prevail. If not, he'll go in the books as another Stalin. Or worse... The bastards have done nothing but try and pull the curtain back over themselves. But hey...Trump didn't get the wall finished so I voted for Biden or didn't vote. Should just do us all a favor and fold their lower lip over their face.

Much wiser and braver men than me have discussed this very thing.
Jefferson said "The issue today is the same as it has been throughout all history, whether man shall be allowed to govern himself or be ruled by a small elite."
When sloth takes over and everyman let the elite make the decisions, ruin and avarice abound. Our elected employees seek to be powerful instead of being servants. Crockett told us “It was nonsense to talk about its being a sacrifice to come there; for if it were, they would not see so many grasping to be members of Congress.”
All politics being local, the failure to be involved in them results in what we have now.
Pericles, from The Golden Age of Athens “Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn't mean politics won't take an interest in you. ”
To preserve liberty it is essential that the whole body of people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them.-Richard Henry Lee

LBJ and his great society nanny state programs for votes has had a huge affect in the almost 6 decades of it all so far. IMO his Presidency was the most damaging. They knew what they was setting up back then and the long term mentality change it would cause, also knew the shift in .gov power it would make for the Liberal Socialist Democrats in their favor. Nothing they create ever goes away..
That expansion of it in .gov continually is like a giant octopus in our nation. When ya got 1/2 the nation basically of the socialist mindset it speaks of the cancer in our counrty that is irreversible.
Our older demographics are dying off. Their younger demographics that want socialism are growing.
You hit the nail on the head in your post DD.

Right on, Dan.
When I was 19-20-21, my Dad would say to me:
1- NO incumbents. 2 terms max. 2- Throw the bums out. 3- There's gonna be a Revolution in this country.
He was dead serious when he'd say it. At the time, I thought he was nuts and it was kind of spooky coming from a twice wounded combat Veteran who went across Europe with Patton, fought at Bastogne-Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and rolled over the fences at the camps at Dachau.
Every ensuing day I'm alive, I realize that much more how right he was.
We're being led down a path that leads nowhere but destruction by a minority group of propped up power mad fools. The problem is that he was right when he said it, but there isn’t anyone left now, that could start and finish that revolution…
