What folks might not get is when she passes, a whole era in history passes with her, the decline of “Whiteness” of the truest kind, symptomatic of the fall of Europe and the West in general.
We will not see her like again.

Sorta ironic ‘Fire members referring to anyone as dried up ol’ prunes 🙂
Relevant to point out too that Elizabeth has more’n twenty years on Brandon. Other than living on the same planet they come from different universes. She was fourteen when her nation went to war against Hitler, and twenty when it ended.
Her parents were a blessing in those years, and Elizabeth herself served to the extent that a young woman her her position could. If she has lived a life of privilege she has also lived a life of service and responsibility.
There’s reasons why she is so beloved, like her parents before her. The rest of the Royals are a mixed bag, it remains to be seen how William and Kate do going forward.
And the Royals ain't elected, and don’t actually govern anything.

No way I could care less about inbreds with bad teeth. Hey! Best thing that happened to em was the influx of good German blood into that line in the 18th and 19th centuries? 😉

I’m pretty sure that the PM runs most things these days but that the English Royals still play an important in part in national identity. She’s served her country with class and dedication and for the most part Prince Charles has and so has William.

Good post. We had our slaves, but they had their class system and there may as well have been prison bars between them. The lower class were virtually slaves other than some small recompense while the blue bloods for the most part spent their lives recreating and in frivolous social gatherings. Well, that’s if Downton Abby on Netflix can be believed. 😉

I think William is solid, so is his wife.
Harry is a trainwreck.

Used to be a native "Brit" Campfire member and regular poster here but haven't seen him post in several years now. He lived in and posted from somewhere in the British Isles. He seemed like a real cool, normal, intelligent guy and a good 'fit' for what the 24 Hour Campfire forum is supposed to be. For the life of me I can't recall his 'handle' anymore, though.

If I’m thinking of the same gent, he was from Wales and he dropped out some years ago now. Always had interesting comments I thought, and have missed him. Was this in his avatar?

The "House of Windsor", as Kaywoodie pointed out is BS advertising, name change by decree, because Germans were unpopular during WW1. England and the Empire have been ruled by the German House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha since 1714, when Queen Anne ate herself into infertility. But since the Brits must have their royals to be happy, they don't quibble about where they come from.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

Anything any of us can say is pure speculation. I do know that their history is pretty sordid. Charles, first born is a complete maniac. He pretty much drove his first wife Diana insane and married Camilla who in my humble opinion could stop a freight train. He embraces Global Warming and all the leftist Marxist theory that is in vogue. Harry married a make-believe princess from Hollywood and entered Oz bever to return to sanity. William and Kate seem to keep a lower profile, but you never know.
I would think that the Queen is much more grounded than her grandchildren. She went through the Blitz in real time. Her father supported Churchill. I wish I could have that .275 Rigby they gave her to defend the castle in case Hitler invaded. Europe in general has embraced socialism and are paying the price for it. We on the other hand are stealing our way toward that morbid adventure.

And to quote Kaiser Wilhelm II, had grandmother been alive, this war would have never happened.

George; Top of the morning to you sir, it's a foggy, "do inside work" sorta day here, but we can use the moisture so I hope you're all getting what you need too. The gentleman was PeteE and he was both a British Army vet and a gentleman of the truest sort in my experience. When our eldest daughter was in her world travelling phase, Pete volunteered to be a contact point for her while she was in the UK should the need arise. He gave me his contact info, etc. and I really should dig it up if I'm able and say hello. It's funny in a way George, when I gave her Pete's info "just in case", she looked at me and asked, "Do you have any contacts around the planet who AREN'T ex military or LEO?" Pete also sent me some wonderful game cooking DVD's years back too now that I recall. Thanks again and all the best to you all George. Dwayne

The Queen, may God bless her..
