I ran into some good ol' Texas boys in Osage county last year.
Some TV hunting personality had convinced 'em there was a 170" buck behind every blade of grass in Kansas. They were shocked, shocked, to see spikes, 4 pointers and sixers.
Right after my brother bought a 26.5 acre farmette by Eudora (and on the Kaw River), he let a buddy hunt his little wood patch, and the guy stuck a 14 pointer. My brother never saw another deer on the place, except a few does. I cannot ever recall seeing any deer on my grandfather's place a few miles west of Gardner.
It all depends on what part of Kansas you live in, I suppose.
