The existence of 7x57 loads was not the point of the post. It was about a reasonable and safe way to cut to the chase if you're loading a modern 7x57 rifle. It's also useful if you're interested in trying a newer propellant for which 7x57 data isn't yet available, but 7mm08 data is. I have never had to resort to 7mm08 load data while loading different components in several 7x57mms, I cut to the chase with 7x57mm data readily available, but apparently you have utilized it with success in your 7x57mm rifles.

Let'r buck. I can't remember exactly what my load of IMR 4350 was, but it was 50 something. You'll be fine if it's not from 1897

My reference to 7mm08 loads takes these things into account. They have much more uniform shorter throats than the 7x57, and the case has less capacity. It follows that for a rifle suitable for modern pressures that working up from 7mm08 data will take care of the 7x57. The world is full of loads for the 7x57, I wouldn't mess around with 7mm08 data. ^^^^^^This. Especially in a pre-98 action

If you are new to the cartridge, I don't think you can get enough 4350 in the case to over pressurized it, unless its an old Mauser 93 or so..
if it is a modern 7 x 57, you want a powder that works well in one, even if shot out...
try 40 grains of 3031....
from 130 to 175 grainers... you are fine on pressure...
seat the bullet out there, if the throat allows you to do so... the velocity might surprise you...
the accuracy will definitely surprise you....
despite what load manuals say, with 40 grains and a 175 gr SP from Hornady or Sierra, in a 22 inched barrel Ruger 77 and a 22 inch Win Featherweight, the velocity chronographs at 2650 out of both of my 7 x 57s...
