Nice looking pup. He’s going to be a big boy. I’ve never had a GSD but have always liked the breed. If I wasn’t into bird hunting a shepherd would be on my short list.

They'll run circles around any lab or springer I ever had. grin

Beautiful dog. He looks like he has some European or other working lines in his pedigree.

I’m partial to pointing breeds. Mostly field trial stock Setters.

I can make a post for a dog thread👍

Cookie
Mid may 2006.
Mom was a Brindle American Staffordshire Terrier
Father was a Rhodesian Ridgeback.
One of my Sqd Ldrs had pups.
Cookie was the pick of the litter out of 6 total.

Cookie was the Alpha Dog of the immediate 4 homes on the fence lines.
All dogs acted subdued in their back yards when he was outside in his yard.
He was a 5 person dog
Me, wife , 3 daughters.

Feb 14 2006 - Sept 5 2020
The one dog for me.
Everyone had or currently has that one dog in their life.

One of the hardest days in my life honestly.
He is buried facing east in the front yard along with Blackjack and Rico.
Lost all 3 of them in a 10 month span.

I will see my dogs again all in their prime....

Great to see everyone's dogs. My Scrappy has been gone almost 2 months and I still look for him every evening when I get home.

First time I lost a dog was really hard on me. That was 1980, when our German Shepherd died. We got her when I was six, back in '67. Still extremely hard, but I get over it quicker than I did then. That dog was my constant companion growing up. Took me literally years to stop breaking down whenever I thought of her. Heck, I guess I'm still not over it. The tears are flowing just thinking about her.

Oh hell, we’ve put down seven dogs in the last 30+ years, and eight horses since 1980.

It’d be easy if we could just keep them out of our hearts.

Ivy was my soul dog. She was an extension of my thoughts. She died last year and after 30 plus nonstop years of having a dog....I have not yet replaced her. My heart is just about glued back together.
