Daughter will be there for a week or so. She is wanting to fish. Will be from land or wading if there are canals. No idea what is there to target, any advice and or suggestions for a newbie?
All I know is she has been taking care of my Mom (dementia) and Dad (deceased) for a while and I would love for her to get on some fish. She inherited my Dad's love of fishing, lol.
Thank you in advance

When I was stationed there in the USN we used to fish the jetty at the inlet to the harbor of the marina area and Rudee Inlet, we caught a lot of flounder, croaker, seatrout and spot there. Occasionally we would get small bluefish as well. There is also a nice jetty off Willoughby Spit towards Hampton Roads that was really good too.
For freshwater there is a lake at Mount Trashmore Park that used to have some decent stripers and largemouths and you can get some decent catfish in the Intercoastal Waterway which has good vehicle access along a lot of its route in VA.
You get out of life what you are willing to accept. If you ain't happy, do something about it!

If she's willing to take a 1 hr long drive from Va Beach into NC, then a good spot for wade fishing would be on the south end of the Oregon Inlet (Marc Basknight) Bridge. There is good parking on the left just as the bridge make landfall.
