I like Probars (Thanks EdT). They're tasty and about 400 calories. I bring along some Almond butter to slather on, Justin's in the foil pouches. That adds another 200 calories and protein. This. ^^ I really dig the little Justin’s pkgs too.

I always bring in a MRE with a heater in it ,couple bottles of water for a full day hunt i always on every hunt rather its a couple of hours ,a full day or what ever my pack is always with me . my pack stays in the truck all fall when i pull the rifle or the bow to take hunting the pack goes with every time. i keep a case of MRE`s in the truck, case of water ,T.P. , extra gloves ,change of clothes ,boots , sleeping bag ,first aid kit ,shovel ,meat pack , meat saw and a case of hand warmers all of the fall ready to be used. also having my 4x4 pickup that is a cab and half and a topper is handy as a storage locker for extra stuff really does help.

You're just pissed because you forgot to put the MREs and TP in the truck. They go hand-in-hand.

Any thoughts on whether I should have a light with me at all times in case it gets dark?

Those Big Surs are only 200'ish calories and over 3$ each. ouch. That’s why I haven’t tried them yet but a few guys I know swear by them. I usually have a bunch of the honey stinger waffles in my food sack also. Justin’s butter on those is delicious also. Tried the RX bars? I like them....

WAY easier than fooling with the Mountain House meals. Sometimes you just want food NOW. We added bacon to about everything else but not these. Bacon on a PBJ? Is nothing sacred?

Bacon on a mountain is as good as it gets. Grin...

I can't do honey stingers as I'll eat every one I brought the first night. I have a helluva sweet tooth...
