Dude, there's been a bunch of lettuce plants burning down lately, things are really coming to a head.

It doesn't really go from field to grocery store without a stop in between...

When I hauled lettuce from Imperial Valley California there was no "factory". It went straight from the pickers' hands in the fields to a cardboard box, 24 heads to a case, into a vacuum cooler, and straight into my refrigerated trailer. A 4-man loading crew could fill a 45 foot trailer with 700+ cases in less than an hour. In the off season those guys would travel to the midwest as a group, arm wrestling for big bucks in beer joints. Nobody would challenge them within several hundred miles of their home territory.

Freeze dry it.

When they’re not packing lettuce they are touring the country arm wrestling? Interesting.

Tossing 40 pound cases of lettuce and other produce onto reefer trailers 10-12 hours or more a day for a harvest season of several months gave those guys muscles in their schidt! Not an ounce of fat on any of them. I wouldn't want to get in any sort of a physical confrontation with one!
