The best out the box 1911 today is a Dan Wesson, by far imho, they cost a little more but are specd nice, put together well and run right.

Next down is an Springfield.

I’d like to hear more about these issues with the Sig 1911’s. I’ve had mine about 20 years or so and have experienced no issues at all. It’s my preferred pistol when I want to shoot CDP division IDPA. Unlike a lot of my pistols, nothing has ever broken on it. What’s your experience with them that reveals issues? What should I be looking out here?

General action fit issues, hammerfall issues, some fell at an angle, bad barrel fit and way to many mim parts. None of the good smiths work on them that I know.

Is this something you've experienced or just internet scuttlebutt? Honest question...everybody I know who has had one likes it and I've never heard all this before.

Generally understood the GSR editions of the Sig 1911 to be pretty good to better than the ones that followed.

I have worked on a few of the Sig 1911s for friends. I was not impressed at all, other guys who work on 1911s full time for a living and are friends of mine think the same way.

SiG Tac Ops in a 10mm.
I love it, honestly just a couple 100 rounds through it but no issues so far.135 grain noslers to 200 grain gold dots.
Shoots them as well as I can hold.
