An elderly lady that is a friend's neighbor has a Sauer drilling that her husband took from the factory at the end of WWII. I dont think it has been fired. If it has, it was very little. It's a double barrel 16 gauge with an 8mm rifle barrel. The lady wants to sell it and asked my friend to try and get a realistic value on this nice Firearm. He contacted me because he knows I'm a gun guy. I have not a clue how much it's worth, but I don't want to see her get taken. Any ideas would be appreciated. These are the only pics he sent me. Ron

that’s one of those “whatever the market will bear” values. Obviously higher due to condition, but likely a small .318 bore and with no optical bases etc, being detractions.. i love those round bottom sauers. My Turkey gun is a 12 bore over 8mm made 1944, choked F&F.. I’d guess it should bring 2500-3000 based on condition.

It probably is a "J" bore with 65mm shotgun chambers, although there were some "S" bore guns made then. I would guess the rifle slugs to .321 as a compromise to shoot both bore sized ammo.
BH, your guess is right where I would put it due to condition, but no scope. W/O scope I would think closer to the $2,500 area, but a collector might pay the $3K.

Without scope bases and in 8mm - I’d look at $2K to move it.
But - I think it’s a fair ask at $2500 given the above average condition.
The drilling market is hot or cold - the gun looks to be a time capsule.
Can you them to take a picture of the barrel flats beside the lug? The proof and caliber marks should be there.

depends on the 16ga, 2 3/4 or 2 1/2, some european's are chambered 2 1/2, that would make a big difference to me, if its 2 3/4 I think it would fetch over 3K

Very easy to lengthen those chambers. Takes @20 minutes. Have done a lot of them.
