Buy them up, because that's not the going price for muzzle loading primers I've seen. $7-$8 is less than 1/2 price of the online retailers. Midway's prices for muzzleloading primbers is the same as what I am seeing at Bass Pro and a local big outdoor store (Green Top Hunt and Fish, Richmond, Va).

Winchester Triple 7 primers $27.99/100
https://www.midwayusa.com/product/2900328291?pid=966618

CCI Muzzleloading primers $18.99/100
https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1301582651?pid=582651

Remington muzzle loadiong primers $20.99/100
https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1601112805?pid=573906

Federal Muzzleloading primers $18.99/100
https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1018438976?pid=718765

but

Somehow, Walmart can manage to sell Winchester Triple 7s for $7.87
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Winchester-209-Primer-Triple-7/17175602

"Muzzle loading primers" is the biggest gun/hunting rip off I've seen in a long time. Unfortunately, none of the Walmarts near me carry any muzzle loading components.

Never bought any of the ML 209s. Does the package warn against their use with BH209? The folks that make Blackhorn are very clear about what works.

EDIT:

Just looked on the Midway site and only Winchester labels them as 777 primers (on the front of the box anyway). Read the revues and questions and it’s amazing how much confusion there is about this stuff. Someone even asked it the 209s would work for a percussion pistol. More than one asked about muskets. Sheesh!

I have a single box of Federal muzzle loading primers and a few extra loose MZ 209s. There's nothing on the box saying they're not for BH209. I don't even remember where I got that box. I've never tried them with BH209 and don't intend to, since Hodgdon clearly states to use normal hot 209s with BH209s. I've got plenty of Federal 209As on hand.

These muzzle loading primers are for use with 777 pellets. IIRC, some people were complaining that standard 209s were too hot for 777 pellets and that the primer ignition was powerful enough to move the pellets and bullet forward before the pellets fully ignited which degraded accuracy. I'ved used both types of 209s with 777 pellets and never noticed a difference.

I like 777 pellets for the sheer convenience and speed. I can swap breech plugs in my Traditions Pursuit to go back and forth between musket caps and 209s. I've found that regular 209s and hot Schuetzen musket caps will both light 777 pellets. I'll uyse up my Federal MZ primers but won't get any more.

My current ML uses rifle primers in an insert, so I left them for others.

Blackhorn data for cartridges uses magnum primers even in small handgun rounds, which oughta be a clue. Good stuff, but hard to light. 777 lights pretty easily in loose form anyway, easier than Pyrodex.

Good buddy just gave me a pack (100) of Federal 209A's. He's my favorite friend this week! Lol!

I looked for months without finding any. I bought 500 Federal 209A primers on Gunbroker for $85 shipped, probably last me 20 years.

Years back I ordered a brick of federal 209A's for my Omega.

Imagine my surprise when a box of bricks arrived.

Only broke into one so far.

Never had a misfire because of the primer...
