Ever hear of histoplasmosis?

Yes I have.

I have a friend who came down with it. Bats were living in the home that he and his family bought in the country. Trying to get the bats out of the attic and seal it up he came down with it. It affected his eyes, and is lucky to have his eye sight.

I like bats and leave them alone. They haven't gotten into any of my buildings though...if it happens game on.

I sprayed them with waterhose. Thought there were 4-5 living under a roof. 50 poured out of there. After getting sprayed a few times they moved on.

There comes a point. And I ain’t Batman. If rescreening my louvers after the vinegar pickling hadn’t worked violence would have been required. For those that haven’t seen how much guano they produce it’s amazing. The existing screens that had sagged held at least 5 lbs of bat chit each. That’s not counting what fell inside the garage attic and onto the deck. There’s no good way to remove it.

Thanks!

If you decide to cook them, do it well done. We now know the consequences of eating medium-rare grilled bats.

I see you have a crush on that individual...keep it private, please. No need to let other hunters know about your estrogen levels...lest they take you for a doe.

We've always been happy to have bats in the neighborhood as they eat an incredible amount of insects.

That said, I do understand the bat guano issue.

Have you considered building a bat house, put it somewhere the bat poo won't be an issue?

Just a thought.

All the best and Happy Fourth of July.

Just looked at a large inverter powering a lodge while bats lived behind it keeping warm. Cannot imagine the noise helped their echolocation skills.

Folks had a problem with bats roosting in their entryway. But they were doing it at night and would leave during the day. I know, weird. Anyway what they did was get one of those portable flood lights and light the area up at night. Kept them out of there.

Maybe something like that might work.

Put up some bat boxes near by, and then wait until they leave at dark, and block the entrance. Of course you'll have to find it before hand. With any luck they will find the bat boxes and stick around. Nature's bug zappers.
