The proliferation of central air conditioning! My parents used to tell me of the days when only institutional structures had central AC (or AC at all). This is why matinee movies were so popular back then. You could spend the hottest part of the day in the movie theater, watching double and triple features.

I agree naiche, the FBI. Used to seem like a good idea, yes, they shot Dillinger. Yes, they got the Unabomber. After a 17-year murder spree. They got the Unabomber when his brother ratted him out and gave the FBI the name, DOB, and current address. Good job, G-Men! Just took y'all 17 years.
