The thing a lot of the unlimited plans run into is that they throttle down the internet speed if you use your phone as a hotspot. Like if you're streaming video to your tv from your phone.

My plan stipulates that I get full high speed use of all my data, no matter if I do so via hotspot to another device like my laptop.

My wife has unlimited data from the same company (verizon) but while her data is fast on her phone, it will barely allow streaming of video to her television, and only poor quality visuals.

Verizon has moved heaven and earth to get me to accept unlimited data. But does not offer an unlimited plan that gives full internet speed when used as wifi.
Or at least not at a price that I'll pay.

Just did an internet speed test on my laptop, using my phone as my internet wifi source.

Pinged Chicago Comcast at 17.16 mbps download

Pinged Bellevue Iowa Public Utilities at 15.14 mbps download

Either one would allow streaming of HD video successfully

Edit; Most internet providers recommend 8+ mbps download speed for video streaming.

Here and there I can find a public wifi that offers 100+ mbps download speed. Most WalMart wifi sources are fast. Even from the parking lot.

You talking about a turbo hub, for camp Richard ?

Deb & I have a 50gig Bell turbo hub at the house.

If it's just us, it's lots & we stream everything.

If the kids & family is over, we sometimes go into the next chargeable 50gig.

Youtube uses far more than anything else !

Thanks all, I'm trying to cover most, if not all basses. A tuner for the dish, an antenna for wifi.

A dipnet for cheaper bait!

We may be confusing two different things. There is download SPEED, which is just how fast you can get stuff. And then there is download LIMIT, which is the amount of data you can receive on your monthly plan. I'm not sure which of those Wabi is asking about. If he's using a cell phone as a hot spot, the more important of the two would be the download limit on his plan.

Thanks Rocky, we ran into the "speed", thing rather rapidly.

I'm working on both the Satellite TV, and internet.

We use a hotspot for all our internet. With our nearly adult daughter streaming many hours a day most days we use about our limit of 200 GB a month. That’s with data set in saver mode on the Roku device.

Depends on who many people in your home are on it at same time.

For years I have ran 50 GB download speed service and worked from home running work VPN connections to my corp. office and VOIP internet phone all while my wife was watching her TV using her Roku device watching Prime, Britbox, etc... My upload speed is only 5 GB but even load files to corp. servers it worked fine.

A co-worker had to upgrade his to 200 GB but his wife and kids were all watching streaming shows on 4 TV's all while being on internet with their other devices...

so unless you have a house full of users 50 GB should be fine..

This stuff is just incredible. Cookie just picked up some terabyte thumb drives. A terabyte is exactly 1 trillion bytes. I recall being impressed with a Micron desktop that came with a 50-meg hard drive.

Load that new thumb drive up and I'm amazed one can lift it.

Present up/downloads for my Spectrum account on my desktop are both about 290 mbs. I can't even read that fast, so it's way more than I need. We rarely stream any video.

The speed of light is something else too. Anyone else ever stood to the side and watched it go by?

It's advertised that we can get gig speed, but it's at considerably more cost. Have a gaming neighbor that's going to pursue that.

You should read Rocky’s post above.

And no, you did not have 50GB download speeds. Maybe 50Mb, which is 8,000 times less.
