You need to find someone with a place on the Red River. Go down in March and walk the bluffs on a sunny day. Friends of mine used to go and get buckets full of them but they haven’t went the last couple years. I think there is a poster or two here from Granfield OK, they might have a lead on a place for you.

If you just want a skin for a guitar strap or a hat band I think I have some in the freezer and I could probably tan one and send it up.

They are neat critters. I don’t mess with them unless I find them around the house. Last thing I need is my kids or dog getting bit.

This. They sometimes punch more than holes in a time clock card. If God wanted them to get away, Hed have given them wings or legs i say.

Spouse's family place is on the Red, they have a couple of big dens and plenty of snakes, even some velvet tails. No gassing any more thankfully. Most rattlers get a pass these days.

Leave that for the waterheads and chinks.

Haha how close are you to St. Roberts, I have a few spots on Mark Twain Forest I have ran into some. Rattlesnake that is, not the others. Though I did run across a lot of the others in college at Rolla.

About 3 hours.

We used to hunt down around Duke. Not even sure that town is even still there.

Ahh I never got down that far. I was more up by Newburg. Lots of Big woods and plenty of room to roam. I miss turkey hunting all the hills and hollers. Now I hunt swamps outside of Memphis.

The smaller shot gives a better pattern, and is enough.
Shorter barrels, to a point, give tighter patterns, for some reason.
I have loaded 38 and larger shot shells with #11 shot with excellent results.

The late Al Miller did a well researched article on snake loads - what year, I don't remember. A long time back, though.

Maybe a non-game or unprotected species.

Probably not an invasive species, as coyotes are native wildlife.

I’ve been in Central Missouri most all of my life and have never come across a rattlesnake. One gets killed every now and again so I know they are around. Copperheads are in abundance if that’s your game. I worked a survey crew for the Forest service out of Salem for a couple years. We regularly came across the copper colored bastards, but never a noise maker.
