That’s the situation that a fellow wants to be in.

An account that “doesn’t go down” is likely losing money every year to inflation now. This sounds like something set up by a bank or insurance company. Might be appropriate for some, but not for many others.

I think I’d rather be the guy that lost 200k. His balance is still probably over 800k. Percentages are like that.

I do envy you those pension $$, though. Nice to be able to count on that.

Don’t look at it, my money manager keeps 18-24 months of cash carve out on the side for us to live off of to survive market swings.

A lot of truth as I’ve rarely seen a one size fits all type arrangement for investors.

The important thing for luvrifles and from his post is that he apparently sleeps well at night. That’s no small matter having seen investors anguish to the point of obsession .

That’s not at all a given depending on how distributions are set up.

I just checked my statement. Still the same number of shares as before.

Last five weeks have seen the largest outflow of cash from the market in over a decade. Lots of people selling low, waiting to buy back in when it’s high again.

It’s the American Way.

There’s only two times your account balance matters, when you buy and when you sell. Right now is a great time to be buying.

Buy a nice old Winchester. They can inherit that when you’re gone. Win-win. 😏

About 30,000 in the first half.

While a bad thing it is not as bad as the almost 90,000 we lost after 911.

But on a brighter note we really have not lost much because it's only on paper not in the pocket. grin

Yes to all three. I like tangible documents. And I have to pay property taxes with a check.
