They are nice and light, have phenomenal glass and supposedly track very well. Also, not to bad mouth Trijicon, but I've had one and the glass was sub par for the course. Probably no where near the level of what todays scopes are, since it was an older one. I know they are regarded as a damn rugged scope though. That 2.5-15x42 is a very versatile power range as well. I hate to bring this question up, but how easy is it to see the reticle when it is on the lowest power setting?? Assuming it's FFP..

I have a Z5i 3-18 that I might put on the 300 H&H BSA. I was also thinking of swapping the Trijicon 2.5x16 off the 270, putting it on the 300 and putting the Z5i on the 270. Haven't decided yet.

No idea on the Zeiss stuff myself. I have heard good stuff about them though.

The 2.5x16 is a SFP scope, the 3-18 and 2-10 are FFP's. Glass and reticle is great to me on the lowest power, even without the illumination turned on. I've never worried about the FFP reticle if it is a good one of shooting stuff on the lowest power.

SB brings up some great options as well. Picking a scope for someone else is like picking out a color for a pickup truck. We all like stuff for different reasons and nowadays, I just get what works for me.

You keep calling it a 2.5-16x42, but the picture you posted says 2.5-15?? Semantics I know, but that's what I'm seeing. Are you talking about a different scope?

No, I wrote 16 on accident. It's a 15X on top.

Ok, thanks. I thought Tijicon had some interesting power ranges or all over the board. Horse says he has one in 2.5-12.5??

Seems like a damn good power range (2.5-15x42). And SFP, I'd use it..

Trijicon has several "lines" of scopes w/different power ranges. The scope I've referenced a couple of times is an Accu-Point. I believe Beretz is using a Credo which is a different "line" from Trijicon. I know that Huron and ten-mile are 2 other "lines" in their family of scopes along with of course ACOG, VCOG, etc.

Horse is spot on. My 2-10 is a Credo. The 3-18 is a TenMile which seems like a Credo as well. The 2.5x15 is also a Credo.

Overall they’re very nice. Easy to set zero stops and adjustments that have been spot on so far. Easy to read reticles with solid illumination.

Used a few NFS and they’re bad ass scopes as well but I wanted to try these out and I’m glad I did. With the mil pricing they’re basically all about the same price for similar scopes.

Another vote for the Razor LHT 3-15x42. I’ve got 2 of them and they are fast becoming my favorite all purpose scopes.

Maybe The new tract 30 mm Hunter series 2.5-15 should cover all your needs ?

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

6.5-20-40 Leupold. I buy every one I see for sale.
Great optics and mounts low.

After looking all over the 'net for the past month, the Swarovski Z6i 2.5-15x44 BT with 4AI reticle looks like the closest fit for what I at looking for.

One question: "Is the juice worth the squeeze?"

I have that exact scope on a 7mm Rem Mag. You will need a very slick (high B.C.) bullet to get you anywhere near 700 yards with a 300 H&H. That scope, or at least the one I have, has 1/2 centimeter or .2" click adjustments and the dial has 48 clicks giving you a total vertical adjustment of 9.6 MOA approximately. Now this is total travel not for the optical center. I needed a 20 MOA base to get me to 600 yards with my 7mm and 160gr Accubond if I remember correctly, it has been a few years since I have fooled with the rifle/scope combination.

I appreciate everyone's input. Finally settled on a Swarovski Z8i 2-16x50 with 4i reticle. Also purchased a ballistic turret for the elevation. Action came back from Douglas with new barrel yesterday. Hopefully will be able to make time to sort it out over the next few weeks...
