Local farm supply sells Husqvarna and Stihl. Its about a 30-35 mile drive to anywhere that sells Echo.
Which do you think is the best and why?

Mostly just around home but light “farm use.” Prefer one with straight shaft.

My echo is going on 10 years now, still runs strong

GOATS are the best weed eaters.

All the others make real good string trimmers!!

I bought a 40v electric and will never pull a weed eater cord again

All of my chain saws are or have been Stihl but when it came time to get a string trimmer to use around the farmhouse and surrounding fencing, where the trimming is more weeds than grass,I got a commercial Husqvarna. It had better reviews than any of the Stihl commercial trimmers at that time and the real thing that attracted me was it was lighter in weight that the Stihl machines.

If you do not need a commercial trimmer because you are just doing light grass trimming around the yard then others would have to give advise on those.

I bought a Stihl fs40 a couple months ago for $169 before tax. So far so good. Would rather have a straight shaft than curved, but it starts easy and does what it's supposed to. I couldn't find anything in the manual to tell me how to restring this particular head. Went on YouTube, found a 2 minute video. Super easy to refill cutting line.

How are you going to have oil dripping on the floor below where you hang it? How will you build up the muscles in your arm and work up a good sweat if you aren't pulling the cord again, and again, and again, and again? (Please see #1 below before wasting time rebutting.)

Stihl, Husqvarna, Echo are all top notch for comparable models IMO. My current one is a Husky because that’s what was on sale. I had a Sthil before it and have an Echo saw and leaf blower. Specific models may be better or worse than another but as a whole I doubt that any one of those brands is across the lineup better than the rest.

My Stihl weed eater is the biggest pos piece of power equipment that I have ever had. Never seen an engine flood so easily. I have an old Weed Eater Brand that was bought new for $39.99, back in the 90s, that is more reliable than my Stihl.

Ista think Poulan was just the "cat's meow".
Nope. Use a weed eater about 2, maybe 3 years. Toss it and get another.
Went with "Weedeater". Same song and dance. Work great a couple of years then junk it.
No small engine shops wanted to work on anything Poulan.
Youngest bought a Homelite chain saw 3 years ago. Dude cranks on about the 3rd or 4th pull.
Eldest bought a Homelite weedeater 2 years ago.

I'll never touch a Poulan again!

Local small engine shop sells Echo and Stihl. I think either is a winner.

Dont have any gas strictly weed wackers anymore here at home. Have the Stihl kombi system with the KM 110 and 130 kombi motors. Have one weedwacker head set up with string and another with a blade. As far as attachments I have the pole saw, articulating blade hedge trimmer, edger, powersweep, and my favorite for dealing with overgrown multiflora rose, wild grapevine and wild raspberry jungles as well as creating or opening up game trails in the brush....the power scythe! For me the kombi system is the way to go!

I've had them all but currently have Stihl and Echo. By far the best one I've had is Echo followed by Husky

Sthil FS 70 5 years old still going strong. The old Shindiawa were hard to beat I have 230 that is probably 30 years old and went through 2 teenage boys still starts on the 2nd pull will run all day no issues.

Have had an ECHO for about ten years now. Got several attachments like a pole saw, leaf blower and a string trimmer. Only had it in the shop once when the carb fouled. They just replaced the whole carb instead of cleaning it out.

I have a couple husqvarnas and a stihl.

Much prefer the husky weed trimmer. But prefer my stihl chainsaw to my husqvarna saw.

You can’t beat that.

I’m convinced that my teenage son went out of his way to beat the hell out of the mower in an attempt to get out of mowing the lawn. “Dad the lawnmower stopped and now it won’t start, can I figure out what’s wrong with it tomorrow and cut the rest of it then?”

Stihl or Redmax are good machines but heavy . If you want a lighter weight commercial grade look at a Shindaiwa .
