I have both and like both but the bolt knob of the 1917 whacks my trigger finger.

First deer/hog rifle was a sporter stocked 03A3.
Buddy got a re-manufactured 03A3/"scant" stock from Aim Surplus. It shot a little nicer.

I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally

I had the chance to get a 1917 from the CMP for around $400 and did not get one. I still kick myself for that. Not that I needed another one but need has nothing to do with it.

Always liked the M1903, but feel the M1917 was a better battle rifle.

I don't have very many of these, but they are the best rifles in my opinion or to my tastes.
Have a couple of Enfields ( no P 14s sadly) One Springfield action, the stock and barrel were crap, so I took them off.. have never rebarreled it sadly.
have several Mausers ( like 5)
I think the Springfield is the nicest of the three..
but I like an Enfield the best... its kinda built like a 53 Buick. SOLID!
Wish I was into rifles back when you could get them cheap.... I'd have a lot more of them and lot less of what I do have...

One of mine. A copy of the USMC WWII sniper rifle. True to form, but worth about 1/5 of an original one. They didn't build very many, and people say there's probably 10 or 20 times as many in existence today as there were in 1942! I used an original unissued C-stock, high number nickel steel receiver and bolt, new Criterion barrel, original vintage correct (but not USMC issue) 8x Unertl. She shoots as well as I hoped.

Looking good gnoahhh, in my book it's lack of all original components is not a problem. You've have recreated an original to use and experience that is the greater reward. Out of all the springfields I have only one 03A3 could be restored to original dress. Probably won't do that either , the joy of having a Springfield for me is in using it. GI ball and GI brass is the frosting on the cake , I like it as well. Good job on that one how does it shoot?. Mb
